Noise Dosimeter

The dBadge, shown on the right, is the part that mounts on the worker's shoulder.

Lite

The dBadge Lite is the lowest cost option. It measures and stores the cumulative occupational noise parameters. It does not provide a Time History Noise Profile.

Standard

The Standard dBadge measures all necessary parameters but also has a Time History Profile, storing the average sound level every minute to provide a graph of level over time.

Plus

The dBadge Plus has all the features of the Standard version, but adds simultaneous measurement of "A" and "C" weighted Leq for checking the suitability of hearing protectors.

Noise Measurement Parameters

All dBadge versions measure all the parameters needed by the OSHA (USA) and ISO (Europe) occupational noise regulations.

  • OSHA and related regulations (Q=5): Lavg, TWA, LZPeak
  • Canadian, ISO, European and related regulations (Q=3): Leq, Lepd, Lex, LCPeak

The Standard and Plus versions also store the Lavg, Leq and Peak every minute. The Plus version also stores the LAeq and LCeq so that the LCeq-LAeq figure can be used for selecting hearing protectors.

 

Display and Controls

The display shows the following information:

  • Measurement status and data
  • Ultra-bright LED high noise level alarm
  • "Fuel gauge" for memory available and battery level
  • 1 minute values of average and peak sound levels

The dBadge has just two keys to control its simple operation.

The keys and the display can be locked to prevent tampering during measurement.
   
   

 

Charging the dBadge

dBadge dosimeters slot onto the charger, which can charge up to three units at the same time.

  • Fully charged in 90 minutes from flat
  • Multiple chargers can be linked together
  • Visual display of charge progress on "fuel gauge"

When on charge, the dBadge display shows the operating capacity of the battery in hours. It only takes 90 minutes for a full charge and a 30 minute charge us sufficient to give an operating time of 8 hours.

Kits with 1, 2, 3 and 5 dBadge Dosimeters include one 3-way charger. Kits with 10 dBadges include two 3-way chargers.
