Optimus Sound Level Meter

Optimus is a range of sound level meters covering applications from basic noise assessments right up to the most detailed occupational noise survey with data logging and real-time octave band filters.

The latest technology has been used to make a powerful meter very easy to use, rather than baffling the user with numerous options.

The excellent quality OLED colour screen ensures measurements are displayed clearly, with colour coding when the levels are above preset limits.

Dynamic Range

The Optimus measures from 20 to 140 dB in a single span. Unlike most older meters, there is no need to select the range before you start (or even worse, during measurement). Perfect for measuring noise that varies considerably.

Parallel Measurements and Real-Time Octaves

The Optimus meters measure all parameters at the same time, so you do not have to select which noise measurements you need before starting. Just press Start. It has "real-time" or "parallel" octave band filters, so these are measured at the same time too. It makes for a very quick and easy start to any measurement.

Other Features of the Optimus

Upgrades

The Optimus Sound Level Meter has a very modular design, so you can add features such as data logging and octave band filters at a later date, usually without even having to return the meter. Software and firmware (the software in the meter itself) can all be upgraded remotely.

Voice Tag

Before starting a measurement the meter asks if you want to record a Voice Tag. At this stage you can speak into the microphone and record up to 30 seconds of notes. You can even record the noise itself for your records. When the measurement is downloaded to a computer the voice tag automatically comes with it. You can listen to it on the computer's speakers. Included with all Data Logging versions of the meter.

Time History

The data logging meter stores parameters such as the Leq and Peak at a rate of between 10ms and 2 Seconds (user programmable). When downloaded, this gives a detailed graph of the noise over time.

Octave Band Time History

Data logging meters store the octave band spectrum every second or every 1/2 second, giving a very detailed analysis of the noise over time.

Automatic Calibration Check and Adjustment

Many measurement standards and regulations state that you should check a meter's calibration before starting. To calibrate the Optimus Sound level Meter, just fit the Calibrator, switch it on and press the Calibrate button.
